Grounding Techniques
- •Name 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, 1 you can taste
- •Hold an ice cube or splash cold water on your face
- •Focus on slow, deep breathing (4 counts in, 6 counts out)
Safety Planning
- •Remove or secure any means of self-harm
- •Call a trusted friend or family member
- •Go to a safe, public place if alone
Distraction Activities
- •Listen to calming music or nature sounds
- •Take a warm shower or bath
- •Write in a journal or draw
